Plumber / Pipe Fitter jobs in Australia

Pipefitters are skilled tradespeople who design, install, and maintain piping systems for water and gas distribution. They also forge steam engines that run appliances like washers and dryers. People in this role need skills working with steel wool and electrical equipment.

A pipefitter is a skilled worker who installs pipe networks for various utilities. Pipes are cut, installed, and maintained in accordance with their standards. Though they typically work for construction firms, pipefitters can find work in a wide variety of fields and environments.

It is common practice for aspiring pipefitters to serve an apprenticeship before entering the workforce. Pipefitters need a foundational set of abilities, including familiarity with cutting and welding techniques, an understanding of designs, and practice operating standard equipment (such as pneumatic drills).

Plumbers and pipefitters construct, install, and modify pipe systems that are used to transport water, steam, air, and other liquids and gasses. Plumbers are the people who put in things like sinks and toilets in a house. They are also capable of installing HVAC and refrigeration systems. Although many skilled artisans are proficient in both plumbing and pipe fitting, these two disciplines are typically treated as distinct occupations.

Many plumbers and pipefitters are recruited by contractors to build and fit out new structures, while others are retained on a more permanent basis by manufacturing facilities to do routine maintenance. Shipyards and aerospace companies often hire plumbers and pipefitters for various projects. Plumbers may also be responsible for linking residential water, gas and sewage systems to public utilities.
