Electrical project engineers are responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of a project's electrical infrastructure. Even if they specialize in a different field, they still need to show that they have a firm grasp on the project's electrical needs. Engineers working on electrical projects must adhere to strict guidelines and coordinate with other parties, including clients, suppliers, and contractors.

An electrical project engineer is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of a project's electrical engineering infrastructure. A design strategy, assessment of existing designs, delegation of tasks to other employees, and strict adherence to technical and safety standards are all your responsibility. 

In addition, you'll need to design and build electrical systems and their components, as well as do complex calculations, coordinate with other engineers, adhere to strict budget constraints, and cultivate positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and other interested parties. In addition to doing quality assurance checks, you will be required to document your findings after investigating issues with electrical components and projects.

A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and/or project management experience are prerequisites for entering this field. You should also be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, as well as have strong time management and diagnostic abilities. 

Key Responsibilities Include - 

  • Maintain records and oversee RFIs, Daily Reports, and Submissions for web-based applications.
  • Maintain and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assist the Project Manager with the initiation and completion of electrical projects.
  • Enhance the company's production lines' quality, functionality, and safety by implementing electrical innovations that improve their quality, operation, and safety.
  • Conduct electrical engineering design, parameters, and evaluation.
  • Ensure that decisions regarding the application of electrical engineering principles to operational problems and proposed requirements are made.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists such as electrical engineering, process, and automation to meet all specifications.
  • Create and evaluate intricate electrical project calculations.
  • Prepare design inputs in document or writing form.
  • Evaluate design inputs and engineering drawings.
  • Prepare and evaluate equipment and material specifications.
  • Prepare reports and research extant technical information precisely in order to meet client needs.
  • Participate in the development of the project's electrical work plan.
  • Prepare the Bill of Materials and project executions.
  • Direct the installation and commissioning of the project's final load testing.
